We offer two different practice groups for adults – and even teens: the Strum for Fun group and the performance group. The main differences are that the songs for the Strum for Fun group tend to be a bit easier and they’re played just to have a good time. The performance group ventures out into the community to perform, so those practices are focused on improving and fine-tuning songs.
Beginners can get a few weeks help to get started with our new beginner session led by volunteer member Dee Davis. The beginner session takes place at the same time as Strum for Fun, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., usually in the downstairs conference room.
Where: Good Samaritan — Las Cruces Village, 3011 Buena Vida Circle, Las Cruces, in the Creative Arts room. On occasion, we meet downstairs in the conference room next to the theater.
When: Thursday evenings; Strum for Fun is 5:15 – 6:15 p.m.; Performance is 6:30 – 8 p.m.
There is never a charge to participate and we have some loaner ukuleles for those who want to just come to give playing the ukulele a try.
Our “ukulele bible” is the Daily Ukulele (yellow cover), with some songs from the Daily Ukulele Leap Year edition (blue cover). We have loaners of those, as well. Come give it a try!
